Set Shabbat table with ample time before Shabbat
Prepare the candles on Thursday or early on Friday before Shabbat
Turn off the refrigerator and freezer lights before Shabbat
Prepare the lights you will need for Shabbat and do not manipulate them during Shabbat
Bake Challah
Help buy and prepare the food for Shabbat
Cook for Shabbat beforehand and don’t cook during Shabbat
Bathe and be ready before Shabbat starts
Buy flowers to enhance your Shabbat table
Give Tzedakah before lighting candles
Prepare your Shabbat clothing beforehand
Light the Shabbat candles on time (In Detroit – Nov 6 – 5:01PM)
Invite guests over for Shabbat Meals
Make Kiddush blessings on Friday night over a cup of kosher wine or grape juice
Have your home neat for Shabbat
Wash you hands and Say the Netilat Yadaim blessing before eating bread
Make the Hamotzi bracha before eating bread
Say Birkat Hamazon/Grace After Meals after eating Challah
Do not write, cut, etc. during Shabbat
Refrain from any type of technology (cellphone, computers, TV, etc.) for 2 designated hours
Do not ride a car during Shabbat
Say over a Dvar Torah/ Jewish inspirational thought during Shabbat meal
Do not buy or shop for anything during Shabbat
Do not listen to music during Shabbat
Make Kiddush before having breakfast
Do not do any type of business on Shabbat
Read the Parasha before Shabbat
Study Torah for at least one hour during Shabbat
Do not use your cellphone during Shabbat
Say the Havdalah or join in someone else's
